BIG BOOK LOVE

Got this really fab book for Christmas - FASHIONISTA by Simone Werle. It really has every notable fashionable person in it - also people I didn´t even know! Because of this book I found out about Truman Capote´s swans. Capote was a writer who was extremely well known in the last century (I do hope u know him!!!!!!) and he was obsessed with fashionable, elegant and graceful women. So he chose some girls from his clique to be his "swans" as he called them. One of them was Slim Keith.
She had this incredible modern look on the outside - but was sooooo conservative and normal for that time on the inside.
Look at that look - it seems as if she was in the EIGHTIES and that photos dates from 1940!!!!! I love her jacket. And her ponytail.

Another swan was a very powerful woman named Babe Paley. She (which Slim also did) married many rich men which gave her the oppurtinity to support as many new artists as she wanted. Truman loved her for her incredible style (never went without pearls, always accurately styled hair and always in style) and they both shared a severe smoking habit (Paley is said to have smoked herself to death).
I love every picture of her - her intense looks, the way she holds a cigarette, her clothes - everything tells a story and makes you feel as if you knew her.

As I looked through their pics, I started to believe that the 40s were actually the foreplay to the eighties: look at that dress - it looks as if Madonna has wore it!
