Hey, I want your number (looking down at your shoes) okay, no, actually I don´t

Welcome to my own little series called "Proof and Tested"!

Today I tried one look that has been spinning around fashion for like years. I can remember when I was like ten or something looking at one pic in a magazine which showed a model which wore light blue socks with those totally-2002 strappy sandals. And I really liked it, although back then it was just some fashion-insider-only-for-shoots-thingy - which brings me to another subject called "omg - I was a fashion insider by the age of ten", no just kidding...

Well, back to our topic! As I walked through the streets of my hometown wearing my black shoes with shoelaces paired with sheer tights and black cotton socks, I rested at the tram station. There, one man looked at me - and, to my surprise, without any kind desinterest. I think he actually liked it! (By the way, girls: I just want to clear things up; I am not dressing for men. This should be the one rule every girl has to follow - because if you do that you will end up wearing nothing you really want, just something he wants; I am just telling you what kind of feedback my surrounding gave me on this look) In the tram, I watched the ladies reactions: and to be honest, there were no reactions at all. I always thought vienniese people were more conservative, and that they couldn´t really track down a trend only if it is shown in every freaking magazine.

The one really definite reaction was the one I got later today: as I was walking past this parc near my appartement, I spotted three young guys hanging around and looking at me. There were talking really loud so it wasn´t hard for me to eavesdrop: "Oh my god, look at her - I want her number soo hard" (short pause) "Oh my god has no one told that girl that it is out of fashion to wear socks in heels?"

So, this, lovely ladies out there is my resumée: If you are a risk-taking fashionista you should definetly try it and love it - although it is no big look, it needs a teeny bit of confidence and attitude. If you are more of the shy kind - which is totally okay and normal - stay away from it;

It is certainly no look which impresses on a first date, although it looks sweet. You should wear it to girls dinner or when you meet a gay and/or stylish male friend who will understand that that´s not your grannies influence you are following, but simply a fashion trend.

When you really want to go for this look, there are many ways to wear it: you can either go punky-freaky like agyness by pairing neon socks and sporty heels with a killer dress and a funky hat; or go retro like Chloe and combine white sock (that will need a lot of courage, I can promise you) and flat sandals with flowery vintage dress and vintage sunglasses.

The way I wore it refers to Leighton Meesters outfit for the LV show; I loved the way she made the dress look coll and modern without doing it the easy way (which would mean pairing nice heels and a jacket). This showed that she understood the whole drama about fashionweeks and stuff.
