Firstly, I tried on something like a cocktail jacket in silver and black from the eighties. It had huge shoulderpads and I still thought it looked cool.
The one item I bought myself was the yellow short. It has a high waist and fits me quite well as I think. It has a light, summery fabric and the colour makes my closet shine. Definetly going to pair it with other ice-cream-like colours.
AND NOW: the dress. I spotted it right away. To understand that, you have to know that I am all about dots - I loooove them! Dots are a simple way to look different. My mum and I are total dot-maniacs and we´d go "oooh" and "aaaah" when we´d spot an item with them on it. The dress caught my eye also, because it had a nice ruffly collar and simply looked sooo not today that it had to be tried on - I did it just for the fun of it. But as I stepped in it, I looked at myself in the mirror and I guffawed at myself. It fitted me perfectly! I couldn´t believe it!! It looked as if the designer had done it only for me. I really had to talk myself out of it, because to which occasion do you wear an eighties-bridesmaid dress? Yes... I know.... But still, awesome dress!
And then I threw on very quirky pants made from fabric that looked like you could scuba-dive in it. Very quirky as I said. I tried it on and it fitted me perfectly, too! Unbelievable. It had a very high waist and was loose at the legs. It slimmed my waist, but still I didn´t feel like buying it.
Instead I bought myself a very chique black alligator bag (at least I act as if it was real alligator, shhhh peta guys, the animal is already dead!) for only 10 (!) euros! I jumped out of joy!
AAAAH, I love the feeling of vintage - it´s like the clothes tell their own stories. Because - what story does a h&m tee tell? "I was made in cambodia by three little low-paid children"? Instead, this one bag I bought in Paris last year from a really great vintage shop has a great story to tell: it was made in Canada and then came to Paris - maybe to hang on the arm of a sixties feminist?
